About Us – Bike Workshop

…and bike library/swap/shop

Peter with customers Nov 15

The VCW has a useful range of tools and skilled volunteer mechanics to help you fix your bike.

If you need a bike, we have many donated pre-loved ones –both for adults and children – that may suit  your needs. Our bike mechanics can help you make repairs, then you can take the bike away away for a koha ($20-$30 if possible)..

The aim is to get more people cycling –it’s such a sustainable, healthy, enjoyable form of  transport.

Currently the workshop is open Saturdays 10.30am -1.30pm and Tuesdays 3.30-5.30pm. Peter is keen to build the volunteer bike mechanic base, and for donations of tools, parts and funds.

See the Contact us page for contact information.

Hi there my partner and I are keen to do the Otago rail trail in late October early November. Are there a fair few second hand bikes that are fairly easy to pick up there?

    Thanks so much,

  2. Matthew Dowling says:

I have a little knowledge with bikes and would be happy to help out

  3. Bernard Reyneke says:

My rear derailleur came off today and I don’t think I’ll be able to fix it myself. Is there someone that can help me with this? Are there set opening hours for the workshop?
I really enjoy my bike and it is my main mode of transport so would like to be back on the road asap.
